When to tell your child...

Question

When did you tell your child you were having a baby? Like how far along were you? I have a 3 year old son I'm only very early at the moment. 9w4. I don't think I will tell him yet but how long did you all wait?

My son is 3 and a half and I told him when I was about 9 weeks. I'm almost 18 now and he's been such a big help. He rubs belly butter on me and talks to my belly. He kisses it. It's the cutest thing ever

We told our 3yo as soon as we found out, she still doesn't totally grasp the concept that there's a baby growing in my belly (I'm almost 16wks)

My son over heard me tell my dad at 4wks. I explained to him that I had to see a dr to see if I could stay pregnant and have a baby because sometimes mommies just can't do it right than. He's 6. I'm now 7wks. I wanted to wait til 13wks but it's too late for that. I'm just hoping my lil jelly bean sticks.

My kids are 4 & 7 and I am waiting until Christmas. I will be almost 14 weeks by then. I just want to get through the first trimester before getting their hopes up. We rent a Santa every year and he is going to bring them big brother and big sister shirts

Our daughter's almost three and I'm 10W4D. She's very interested in diapering and holding her babydoll. When we see babies in the stores she's interested, too. I ask her if she thinks we should get a baby and she very cheerfully says she would like that so she could hold the baby. I think when I really start to show we'll tell her there's a baby in mommy's tummy.

I'm only 7+4 and our 4 year old knows. I figure of anything did happen we wouldn't tell him. He had no idea how long 9 months is, so if  we had to TTC for another cycle or two to get pregnant again he would never know the difference. All he knows is it takes a long time for my belly to get big before the doc takes the baby out.

My first doctors appointment my babysitter for my son called and was sick. I had to take him with me, when he saw the dating scan he got really excited. I was 8 weeks, he did a really good job keeping it a secret. He just turned 6. I would have not told him until my second trimester if I could have though. Pregnancy is long and even longer for a child.

My daughter is 4 I told her once I got to hear the heart beat for the first time at 10 weeks that's when I also told my immediate family held off on everyone else till I was 14 weeks

We told our daughter when I was about 5 weeks, she was so excited but it began to sink in for her more I think when I started to show, now she always asks what her sister is up to in my tummy and is so excited that she only has a week to wait for her sister :-)
