Women w. Migraines w aura /visual disturbance?

Question

Anyone with migraines with aura/Visual disturbance? If so, what type of birth control do you use? It's recommended I should not take the traditional pill because of increased stroke risk because of my type of migraine.

Debating if I take anything else or just deal with condoms....

It doesn't answer your question but it might be helpful. 
I used to her migraines regularly for over a decade. 
My doc suggested taking magnesium and I've now gone 2 years without one.

And Botox, lots of Botox.

We just use condoms. My neurologist said I couldn't use any hormonal bc. You could look into a copper iud maybe?

I had horrible migraine headaches  with an aura for over a decade until I switched to an only progesterone birth control pill. Depo was good for my migraines but caused me weight gain and difficulty getting pregnant again. Good luck! I've been migraine free now for about 7 years!

I had the Mirena and my migraines were absolutely horrible for years. I didn't make the connection until I had it taken out and they suddenly stopped. I'm going to use the mini pill for now until we figure out if we want to tttc again and if not I'm thinking I'll opt for the Paraguard IUD since it has no hormones.

I've had migraines for 15 years. I used to always get the aura. I don't anymore, and I think a large reason I don't is because I got off the pill. Once I got off birth control I also stopped taking the meds to prevent migraines. Now I only get them occasionally and they're not as intense. Mine were very hormone driven, which I think is why the pill made them so much worse. You could look into hormone free birth control if you want! I just use condoms

I've been on the pill since before I got migraines. They started for me when I started to get my wisdom teeth and I've been on the pill ever since. I am getting the Mirena though on Monday.

I have chronic migraines and refuse birth control for multiple reasons. We just use condoms.
