Will it ever get better?
My son is 5 weeks old and breastfeeding has hurt from the beginning. He had a lip and tongue tie that we got revised, and we both have thrush ( I think it's starting to finally get better). I've seen three lactation consultants who all say his latch looks fine from the outside but my nipple still comes out looking like a new stick of lipstick every time. I've been having to use nipple shields to dull the pain enough for me to be able to nurse at all. I've said many times now that I'm quitting and switching to formula but the next time he's hungry I can't bring myself to give him formula. I tell myself to just deal with the pain. Will it ever get better? I wanted to breastfeed for at least 6 months but I can't live with this pain for much longer.
