Does anyone have a blood pressure monitor at home? If so is it usually accurate? I have a digital one and not sure if it's accurate or not.

BP cuffs can vary for different reasons. It also depends if it is an arm cuff or a wrist cuff. The wrist are not as accurate. They should also be calibrated every so often. When I get a new one I take it to my next appt and compare their reading to what my  machine says.

If it is accurate then my blood pressure has been up and down a lot over the last week. I ended up in labor and delivery last weekend because I was worried about it and they checked my bp for an hour and did blood work. The readings there. 1 was high and 4 were normal.

My midwife asked me to bring my monitor in so we can compare it to theirs to make sure it gives accurate readings. You could probably do the same :)

Yes I took it with me to one of my doctors appointment and had them do my blood pressure with their cuff and then do it on my machine to see if it was accurate and it is!

Mine seems to work well, but I did have to buy a second one because I discovered the cuff was too small for my arm. Apparently a small cuff can really throw off your readings. So I got one with the "extended" cuff or whatever it's called, and they have been much more consistent.

I've wondered too because at home because at home it's like 107/70 and when I've gone to the dr the last two times it was 134/70.
