My anatomy ultrasound at 19 weeks showed my baby have a cleft lip and palate. I'm very sad about, but I'm getting information to be more comfortable and strong with this situation. Is someone else going thru the same? What do you know about cleft? Thanks

I'm not going thru this but I have heard that it's a pretty minor surgery and most of the time there is barely any visible scar.  Good luck mama :-) prayers

One of best friends had a baby girl born with a cleft lip and palate.  A few surgeries later and she looks fantastic!  By the time she is in school it will be unnoticeable.  She did have a little trouble feeding, but everyone got through it fine  :)  no worries!!  I would suggest lining up some specialists for when the baby is born.  Knowing about this ahead of time is a blessing.  Stay strong!!

My baby sister was born with a cleft palate. They did several surgeries early on, soon after birth. She needed special bottles and various doctor appointments but she's 12 not and perfectly fine. She looks totally normal also, you would never know she had cleft palate as a baby. She does still have routine appointments to keep up on everything but she doesn't have any life altering issues. Good luck! I'm sure your doctors will point you in all the right directions 😊

The surgery to fix the cleft lip I know is extremely effective and once it's healed, you can't tell they had it. As far as the cleft palate, I haven't heard too much about it. Good luck💖

I hear the surgery is easy/good! My adopted sister had a cleft lip/palet and had the surgery. You can't even tell she had it without being told she did. Stay Strong! Maybe be a genetic defect, I'm not sure exactly.
