Should I have a child after age 35?

I'm 34 almost 35 and I would like to have a child before it is too late. My husband wants to finish his degree before trying. This could be another 2 years. I'm concerned that if we wait too long, I may not be able to conceive or I'll have complications. There is also the increased risk of having a child with a developmental disability after 35. Should I wait or pressure the man I've been with for 12 years to have a baby?

My mom had me at almost 40 years old. There were complications, not to scare you. I'd pressure him to start trying now :)

I'm 36 and having my first. Yes, there can be complications, but the medical field has come a long way and 35 is no longer "too late." If you have trouble conceiving after 6 months, find a fertility doctor and start looking at options.

My aunt had her last baby at 46. Her pregnancy was high risk for obvious reasons, and had some issues getting pregnant. But her baby was healthy and is now 6 and she did just fine! :)

I'm 35 and plan on waiting a few more years. Most of my friends in their 30s also plan on waiting. I don't think it's a big deal, unless you have a medical history that indicates otherwise.

It could still take a couple years to get pregnant. If I were you I would pressure to start ttc now. I do know of people having babies in their 40's but its hard. Your body is just that much younger right now.

My little brother was born when my mom was two months shy of 40. There are always risks, but just take extra good care of yourself, and hope for the best.
