TDAP SHOT??

Question

My SO and I are getting the shot and my mom is getting the shot, but my dad refuses to. Am I wrong to be upset with him and say he's putting my son's life at risk?? Please help.

Just had this convo with my mom. She said she doesn't want to get the shot bc they really hurt and she always feels like crap for a week. I told her she'll really feel like crap if she gives my baby a life-threatening illness. And that was the end of that.

My dad and step mom didn't want to get one because they are crunchy granola and that's just not how they prevent illness. And I totally respect that. But once I explained that they will be flying in a plane to see baby when he is born (you know planes, the flying germ tubes in the sky?!) and they will want to hold and cuddle and kiss my baby, that it could potentially risk his life to expose him to those germs...they went and got them

No u r not wrong at all for being upset bc tthat is a whooping cough shot as well and every adult who will be around new baby is recommended to get it to protect the baby u r a mom and have every right to be upset I got mine already and so did my family...it's highly recommended for safety of baby.:) for good reasons.

I think it's just a guy thing. My mother in law got it right away and my husband and I did it after I convinced him to do it with me cause I don't like shots (a lie to get him to do it, he knew I was faking) but my father in law never got one and refuses to do it. He said he never had it with his kids and they grew up fine.

Just had this conversation today with my mom and SO..theyll be getting one but my brothers my dad dont care to...i dont think you should be too upset. Until i became pregnant i had no idea tdap was a thing. Ive been around many babies..from day of birth on up and never got sick or them sick. If you and dad get it that should protect baby the most...your shot will give baby anyibodies to fight it off~
