When to tell boss..

So I'm only 3w5d and I don't know when to tell my boss. I'm a vet tech and he expects a lot out of me (X-rays, surgery, heavy lifting, etc.) I told my co workers so they can do X-rays for me. I'm just afraid he'll announce it to everyone since our families are friends. Any advice??

I'm a vet nurse in the UK, you really ought to tell your boss now due to the health and safety concerns. No heavy lifting, no xrays and no inhaling any anaesthetic gasses! Just be honest with them and tell them you havent told anyone else they have to keep quiet unless they need to inform a colleague for any reason due to health and safety concerns! You definitely should tell your boss but just ask him to keep your secret.  It's not worth putting you and your baby at risk.

I just told my boss at 11w5d and he actually asked me if he could share with our team in his office.  I wasn't expecting that,  but it was really nice to have the option of keeping it from common knowledge for now.

I work for an auction house meaning heavy lifting etc. I told my boss in confidence at just before 3 months just because I felt it was important. Hopefully this is helpful x

I think because of your job duties you should tell early, so he can understand when you need accommodations.  But ask him to please keep it under wraps until you are ready to tell family.

I would honestly tell your boss as soon as you feel comfortable with it just so accommodations can be made for you. I worked in a warehouse with animal medications that are meant for terminating pregnancies in cattle and are known to have harmful effects on women's reproductive organs so I told my boss the day after I had found out.

If you lift a lot at work is recommend telling them as soon as possible cause if you lift a lot that's bad for the baby at that early.
