Edema after pregnancy?

Evening ladies?!? I gave birth to my gorgeous daughter on Wednesday 5/25. I had NO swelling my entire pregnancy my midwife was actually quite impressed. Fast forward to today- my legs and feet are so swollen I finally understand what "cankles" are. Any ideas on why or what to do about them? Please help! Thanks!

Following!  I had my son on the 25 also! And same hardly any swelling during pregnancy. And now my feet and ankles are HUGE!!!! 😰

These ladies are right. Walk, drink lots of water, and when resting elevate your feet. I had my daughter on Monday and I had the same issue. They are finally getting better today. It will pass soon.

You must get off your feet .. my mother used to tell me that you can have a set back.  In other words you can get sick after the baby is born.  My friend had her baby last week, she has that but she went to the er and her pressure is up . If it doesn't get better. Call your doctor

Keep your feet elevated as much as possible and drink tons of fluids. One day, they will just get better and then totally resolve.

I had some edema the last 6 or so weeks of my pregnancy and boy was it MUCH WORSE after childbirth. Mine resolved around 10-14 days after delivery.

I had a csection and after basically 4 days in bed I end up with sever swelling in my feet, ankles, legs and hands. 
  To help with the swelling you need to elevate your legs above your heart, walking actually helps and drinking water does as well (it encourages you to pee out the extra fluid).

Same happened me due to the fluids I got and the catheter been removed due to epidural and not passing enough urine afterwards. It took just over two weeks for my feet to get back to normal again. I wore big fluffy socks around the house the whole time,no shoes and elevated my feet on a chair when feeding baby!

Lol same thing happened to me. Totally normal. Took me about 2 wks to pee out all the extra fluid. It's just your body's way of redistributing all that extra fluid.

It's normal! It's from the fluids from your pregnancy and the hospital iv! Just make sure you're drinking lots of water to flush it out, walk (but don't overdo it) and when you're done walking, get those feet up! Mine came and went away over the course of a weekend.

I had swelling last 10 weeks of my pregnancy, got slightly better when I stopped working and was off my feet the last few days. However, after delivery swelling went right back up and was my whole leg then! If you had an epidural, a lot comes from the fluids they pump into you. Keep off your feet and try to prop them up as much as you can (lay down, put pillows under them) and drink lots of water! The water part seems backward, but you have to do it! Good luck! Mine went back down in a few days and I can see my ankles again!

No swelling here either during...I had a c section but my feet and ankles are also so swollen 😫 sent hubby to get compression stockings yesterday.
