Should I stop breastfeeding?

I'm a FTM and I don't produce much milk. Each time I pump I only make 1-2 oz from both sides. I have to give formal to my son instead and give him my milk maybe once or twice a day. Should I stop breastfeeding and just give him formula? Or what can I do to produce more?

What you pump us not a reflection of how much your feeding while nursing.   A breast pump is just trying to mimic the natural sucking your baby does, but it's just a machine and your body responds differently to a machine than your baby. If you baby seems happy and content after eating then he's getting enough.

How often are you pumping and getting 1-2 oz?? And you said both sides so possible 4oz??  That's amazing if your pumping often!   Do you strictly pump??  I would see your local IBCLC if this is something you want to do!   Every time you supplement you are taking time away from the breast which lowers your supply more.

I wasn't able to nurse right away after my csection & my premie was in NICU also found out she had a tongue & lip tie at 4 weeks.  so I pumped I took prescription meds & herbs & pumped every 2-3 hours round the clock for 30-60 min each time to try to up my supply. I was able to pump for almost 6 months topping up with formula. At 6 months I was barely getting 6 oz in a 24 hr period so I stopped. I had a bad head cold & thought it was more important to function & took cold meds & stopped. It was the best I could do she got as much bm as I could give her. Just remember a fed baby is most important. It doesn't matter how you feed them( bm or formula) as long as they are happy & healthy you are doing a great job🙂

4 oz a session is a good amount! Especially if he's 6 weeks old. They also get more when they nurse. Try nursing more!

Do you breastfeed at all or just pump? Bubs suckling stimulates milk to be produced much more than pumping does. Try to put bubs to the boob at each feed and they will tell your body how much to make. What made you think you didn't have enough?

Currently having the same issue. My doctor has prescribed me pills for it. I've tried the mothers milk tea. But I'm breast feeding every feed but I end up having to supplement him 2oz with formula. I want to breast feed, but am also having doubts. My baby was premie and I had a c section. I wasn't able to breast feed as soon as he was born.

Breast milk is so good for LO I would say some is better than none. Lots of water and plenty of calories. Nutritional meals and oatmeal helps.
