Should the monarchy be abolished?

(First off I'm American and I won't pretend like I know much about the laws there, I just thought this could be a interesting new topic for us.)

Apparently the queen and Prince of Whales have the ability to veto legislation, or so I read.

I'm British & love the Royal Family! I think they benefit the U.K & it's commonwealth in many ways.

They're doing better than we are in the United States, why change a good thing for them?

Oh yeah, because this is the US and changing other countries against their will is what we like doing. Duh *facepalm* silly of me to forget.

Their queen/king is essentially the same as the American president. They are a figure head for the political system. But the majority of laws and any political decisions are made by parliament (our congress).

I don't live there either but do they help out in any way? I seems like they're more of celebrities than anything else. I don't even know what other countries have kings now lol.

My country is part of the Commonwealth and I like them. We have a Prime Minister but there's something about the royal family that I like too.

I thought those Royal families were just for show. I didn't know they really did anything. I thought the actual government ran their country. Like a 'council,' or 'board of directors/congress' if you will...

I'm from a country in the Commonwealth and they do actually play a political role. The Queen has to approve every bill we pass. Well, she doesn't technically do it. The Leituent Governor General does, which she appoints on her behalf. She can order us to war if she wanted to. I mean she hasn't, but she could. 
I like having it this way in case we end up getting a nutcase for a leader in government.
