Should I go on the pill?

Im a 17 year old and I'm a Virgin. I am really sensitive when it comes to near my period (2weeks pre) and it's effecting my life. My periods aren't unmanageable but they are heavy in my opinion. My auntie says that I don't need it but I'm not so sure wether she's right. My mom says I should go to doctors and lie- saying I have uncontrollable periods and I know that's wrong way- to lie. I don't know what to do! Help.

Talk to your Dr and he/she should be able to tell you if BC will help. You don't have to lie. If you don't, then you could be getting medicine that you don't really need.

Hormones are a part of being a teenager. And girls are more heavily effected than men. Mature women often forget what that is like. I had horrible mood swings when I was that age as well. Birth control is a big decision and can have negative consequences. Discuss this with your doctor but be honest. A lie now could follow you medically for a lifetime.

Before I went on BC my periods were 7 days and since then they have shortened to 3 days, 1 day heavier than the rest. It really helped me, plus there are some that help with breaks out. Bonus!

Why do you need to lie? A gynecologist will prescribe birth control if you tell her that your periods are terrible.

Even if you had amazing periods, you can still get on the pill. They won't deny you. Won't hurt to get on it.

I'm on the pill because of my periods. I'm not a virgin but I'm not sexual active.  I get bad cramps and they're heavy.  Theres nothing wrong with taking birth control for help with your periods.
