Dumb question...

I recently began dating an old flame again . and we just began to be intimate . he isn't very experienced in account that he had spent the last 22 yrs in prison. That can be helped with some practice. My question is ..I was giving him oral when he told me to " stroke it " . now I'm 38 yrs old my definition of stroke it is jerking him off. Is there a different meaning ?? Cuz even after I did what I thought he wanted. He kept telling me to stroke it? What am I doing wrong??
