Is piercing your infant's ears a cultural thing?

I notice that a lot (not all) of women who pierce their infant's ears are Hispanic. Does this have some sort of cultural significance?

I'm from Europe and we all do it when they are very little. Hurts for seconds and she will not remember the pain.

Nope. I'm white and I'm piercing her ears at 6 weeks old.

No... It's just girls should or at least it is more common for them to have them pierced than to not & it's easier to do it when they are babies so they wont remember

I have 2 boys and they both have there ears pierced but we did it cause they wanted to my son was 1 yr and 6 months we were getting our baby girl ear done and he said ohh pretty I want some so we did there together at Walmart and people talked but they don't understand our kids the way we do and we are Hispanic but I don't think it has nothing to do with it cause I've seen white and Africa American baby's with the same thing  and  people are going to judge no matter what

I had my ears pierced when I was 3 months old. I'm half black and half native Alaskan, I'm pretty sure it's not culture, just preference.

Yea it is to most. Mosy Hispanics do pierce their kids ears when they are a couple months old. Nothing wrong with it.
