Swollen feet and ankles

I've officially joined the swollen feet and ankles clan. I work 40 hours per week and spend a lot of time on my feet. My Dr said to getmaternity compression stockings to help with the swelling. I seam to do okay if I can elevate my feet but sometimes it's painful. Is it normal to have pain with the swelling? The pain is on the inside of my foot, below my ankle bone.
