Sibling rivalry ?

My younger sister told me she was pregnant March 9th. I hadn't had my period in over a month (previously planned to take a test but I forgot about it) so I was like let me make sure I'm not... well unfortunately I was... Not unfortunate that I'm pregnant but being pregnant at the same time my sister is... Our due dates are just a week or so apart. I'm a little disappointed because I feel like she is competing with me (she's like an attention freak). I'll post a countdown date and she'll go right behind me and post the same thing... Down to choosing a girls name that's one letter different than mine...Her and I aren't very close but I feel like she wants all the attention on herself from our family and friends. The father of her child isn't going to be in the baby's life he's only a child himself so maybe she's crying out for help in a way. I talk to her about my pregnancy and it's kind of like she seems uninterested if we aren't talking about hers. Maybe I'm just overreacting but I truthfully despise being pregnant at the same time my sister is.

I'm sure that's very hard and I'm sorry you're going through it. I have a sister in law who is an attention freak too and I was dreading if we happened to be pregnant at the same time. Luckily they're not planning to try for a second until October, so would just barely know by the time our baby is born even if they get it on the first try.

She still hijacks every conversation about my pregnancy and talks about hers from 2 years ago... 😂 It's really annoying... But at the same time people know who she is and that's not a good thing in her case. It's unfortunate that you can't enjoy your pregnancies together but I'm sure you're onto something with the jealousy thing. She's probably scared and jealous and taking it out on you.

My oldest sister is due July 9th my younger sister is due October 9th and I'm due November 7th. It feels like we are comparing sometimes but honestly it's a great experience! Busy time for our family. And my husband and I were the only ones trying!

My sister had a miscarriage and pretty much hates that I'm pregnant. She's 11 years older than me, and until she had a miscarriage, I was under the impression she didn't want kids. It hurts my feelings the how she is very uninterested in me being pregnant but oh well. I understand how you feel kinda. My ex's new gf got pregnant like 2 months after me and I feel like she's just trying to steal my shine. Like back off bitch. Lol

My younger sister got pregnant before me at 19 and she seems very annoyed by my pregnancy. My husband and I planned ours and she didn't and also her boyfriend and her have a very unhealthy relationship. It seems as though she is mad that we did things a different way and people Have reacted differently. We have gotten more support. I am 25 and my husband is 26.

Im sorry you are experiencing this :/.  My sister in law is about 12 weeks ahead of me. We both could not be happier! She is having a girl, i am having a boy. I love "comparing notes" with my SIL.  It's been a true comfort, especially because i am very close with my cousin John (who is 6 months younger than I).

Sounds like you need to let your sister's pregnancy "go" and just focus on yours. You can only change yourself, not your attention seeking sister.  Maybe it is a good time to further develop your relationship with your MIL.  GL

I completely understand my sister got pregnant with her second child when she heard I was trying for my first. Well she got pregnant before me I was torn and it took me a year to get pregnant she started trying a month later she was pregnant and then I found out I was two our kids are two weeks apart. Note this was my first baby so I didn't know what to expect of pregnancy or anything my sister was a stay at home mom I was in the army working full time and school I was exhausted yet my parents were always concern and helping her they didn't show any interest or excitement in my pregnancy my husbands parents where the ones over joyed to have a grandchild buying her things and all I just felt like crap that she keep making it about her the whole time sounds bad but sometimes they see it as their only time to be in the spot light

My sister in law and I are 5 weeks apart and this happened a lot at first. Now we're both into our second trimester things have calmed down a bit.

My younger sister has 2 kids already and is a little ahead of me now with her third, this is my first pregnancy. She got upset when family reacted better to my pregnancy than hers. She is still at home and her baby daddy is in and out of the picture. So I kinda understand how you are feeling. I'm in another country, and my mom is planning on being with me which means she might not be with my sister, that really made her mad.
