How do you tell someone you're dating about it?

When I was in high school I was date raped. I didn't date anyone for years after that. I just started dating someone and I haven't told him about being raped yet. I know it's something I need to bring up, but I'm not sure how to do it or when is the right time. Thoughts?

If bring it up if or when you feel comfortable talking to him about it or if it starts to affect your relationship. But he doesn't have a right to know. If you don't want to talk about it or aren't ready to answer any questions he might have then wait till you are.

Talk about it whenever you're comfortable and whenever you think your relationship can handle it. But I think it is important to talk about it eventually; it is a part of who you are and an SO can really help with dealing with these things. Just explain what happened and explain where you are with dealing with it. He should understand; that's what you deserve!
