Do you get upset? [Mostly venting]

I'm mixed race. Like many mixed race people, most people think I'm one of the races I come from. When I tell people I'm mixed, most people are surprised.

A few people have decided to deny the race I 'don't look like' and say "you're just [race]".

When they say this, they are telling me my heritage doesn’t count. And that's very upsetting to me, at times. You can't deny who I am because you (as an individual... unaccustomed to my people) can't see it.

Do you feel the same?

(Note: This is usually done by the descendents of those who participated in my ancestors' genocide. Insult + Injury.)
