Cramping and spotting after cervix check

Anyone else experiencing cramping and spotting after you get your cervix checked? The doctor who checked me last time was so rough and I've been spotting and cramping for days. My doc said its normal but it makes me want to stop getting it checked. My due date is tomorrow and I'm still closed but 50% thinned. What's the point of getting checked if it's not a predictor of when the baby is coming?
