Best positions for perineal massage?

Question

Any suggestions on the best positions for perineal massage, without having another person involved? The nurse suggest that in my childbirth and parenting course but I hate that idea, I just want to do it myself.

I saw but havent tried, laying on your side and reaching behind you. I cant bring myself to do it. I just started inserting evening primrose oil capsules last night, so hopefully that helps enough without having to massage.

I've always heard that the bathtub is a good place to try. The warm water will help the stretching, and hopefully you can reach if you pull your knees up and try going under your leg. Doing squats can also help stretch your perineum.

I lay on my left side sort of in the fetal position. Works alright for me.
