Low-lying placenta the same as placenta previa?

I need some light on this subject...my dr had me have an US today at 15weeks and then called and told me that my placenta is lying low. Just curious about what this means and if my baby and I are at risk..

It just means that your placenta is lying close to your cervix. Your doctor probably told you to refrain from sex, take it easy and don't lift anything heavy. It usually resolves on its own but if it doesn't it just means you'll have to have a c-section

15 weeks is still pretty early to worry about precision, which comes in different measurements. Last pregnancy, I was told I was low lying by one doctor, but the reality was I was complete previa. Apparently doctor didn't want to worry until it was time to worry since placentas often shift up the further you progress. She just told me I was on pelvic rest and had some other physical restrictions. I also had monthly ultrasounds until the previa resolved, which it did. That's when when I found out how complete my previa had been. Sigh. Doctors.

Seriously though, don't worry about it just yet. It could be on the road north by your 20week anatomy scan and all will be just fine.

Means placenta is low, close to cervix.  Placenta tends to move up as pregnancy goes one.  As long as it doesn't completely block the cervix you are good to go for a vaginal birth.

Hello, I was placed on Pelvic Rest as my Placenta was close to Cervix. It is Usually called Placenta Pervia.
At the start of my fourth month i had this Gush of Red watery Fluid came out after I woke up from afternoon sleep. That was very Scary i cried and immediately went to the doc, the doc sent me for US and it showed my Placenta was just 1.4cm close to cervix.
I am still on bed Rest. The Gynecologist advised me to refrain from sex and not walk or sit much. Complete bed Rest for a month. Gynac said the Placenta will move upward with baby's growth.
But i will have to take care.
Don't worry much, just rest, eat and drink alot.
Don't put much pressure on ur tummy or bend.
Everything will turn out good. Stay Positive.
