Don't wanna be called grandma or grandpa

My husband's parents will be first time grandparents and they do not wanna be called "grandma" or "grandpa" because they will feel old. They're in their mid and late 50's already. Husband said we should respect their wishes and have them call what they wanna be called. I expressed to my husband that it would be cool if our baby called them "nana" or "papa" because that's what we call his grandparents. I didn't really have grandparents growing up so I feel like it'd be special if our baby called them that.  I don't know. What are your thoughts?
