Shaving down there...

OK sorry if this I'd tmi but its like pretty hairy down there and it sometimes stick out of my swim suit I don't really feel comfortable shaving it yet so should I at least trim it? It also bugs me when I'm on my period and its like gross and hairy and yeah.. Please tell me what u think
