Nipple shields?

Question

I posted a question earlier regarding my daughter and her latching. My milk has just come in and she is having a hard time getting a deep latch. Would anyone highly reccomend a nipple shield? Or highly veto the use of one? Would it confuse my baby and can i stop using it later? Please help me!

I highly recommend one! It's the only way I was able to breastfeed. My son also had a shallow latch. We were about to ditch it after about 9 weeks. 6 months and we're still breastfeeding!

My baby is a month old and we've been using a shield since he was 3 days old. He takes bottles perfectly as well as his binky so no confusion from him. Gotta do what you have to to feed him!

I used one with my daughter and it saved our breast feeding relationship. She could not latch deeply either and it helped her to learn to latch properly. We used it for about a month and slowly weaned off of it. She had no confusion later on. Or do one feed with one without so she can practice

I started using a nipple shield the second day in the hospital bc my little girl has a small mouth and she was causing scabs on my nipples from not latching correctly.. She also uses a pacifer and will occasionally breastfeed without the nipple shield. We use the medela shields the hospital gave us.  If it wasnt for these i probably wouldve stopped breastfeeding asap bc it was killing Me but im so happy ive been able to continue breastfeeding

I only had to use one with my daughter at night tome for about 3 weeks before she was able to do it on her own and it made it a lot more comfortable for me. I highly recommend them

For me it helped my nipple heal and made breastfeeding bearable, but as soon as it was healed well enough I stopped using it. We didn't have any issues with nipple confusion or preference but my supply on that side dropped and never fully recovered, it started out as my higher supply side and after that was always much lower.

I highly recommend it. My daughter had to use one at birth and although it was a pain to always make sure I had one it helped with her to latch on. She is now five months old and hasn't need the shield for over a month.

The lactation specialist at the hospital had me use one and its a life saver! I recommend the medela brand with the cutout for the nose
