How can a BFP lead to a chemical pregnancy?

Hi ladies! This is my first month TTC officially and I've seen a lot of posts and comments about girls that had thei BFP and then found out they had chemical pregnancy. Do you know what leads to that? I mean, what could happen that could possible "make" the pregnancy be chemical..? I'm sorry if the question sounds stupid. And thank you SO much in advance. I had a chemical last month, my GP told me that it's actually quite common but us ttc women pick them up as we test early hoping for that BFP! She said most women who have them don't even realise maybe just think a day or so late for AF, I tested at 9dpo got faint positive me and my oh was jumping up and down.. Next day again faint positive and so on but they didn't get any darker my AF was due on the Wednesday and I started bleeding on the Friday morning, was heavier than my usual and a couple of fair sizes clots cramps were pretty painful and lasted 7 days I'm usually only 5 days, but if I didn't test early I would just of thought I was 2 days late and was a bit heavier than normal 
I've promised myself I won't test until 13dpo min again I can't go through that heartache again, gone on to having normal cycle just ovulated last week now on my ttw fingers crossed for this time x

It extremely common for women to have cp. Your body starts to produce hcg enough to get faint on the test but it's not a viable pregnancy. Maybe it didnt implant right, or maybe DNA messed up. The body recognizes it and sheds it (period). Maybe on time or maybe a couple days later. I've had two & had i not taken a test I may have not even realized.
