Ovarian cyst vs. hydrosalpinx

Jessica

I just had a check up today, to make sure everything had passed after my recent miscarriage. Everything looked good so while he was at it, he checked my ovaries and the "cyst" on my left one. 4 days before my BFP, I had actually gone to this particular doctor because he is a fertility specialist and we have been trying for about 3 years and has already had one miscarriage. I have always had pain in my left ovary and after several ultrasounds by a different doctor (who also diagnosed me with pcos), I was told it was an ovarian cyst. It was quite a bit larger than the "string of pearls" around my ovaries and more on the tube rather than the ovary. Doctor #1 decided it was a functional cyst but by my understanding, those don't cause serious amounts of pain. It's so bad sex is very painful. This new doctor after checking decided it MIGHT be a hydrosalpinx rather than a cyst. After he explained what it was I said that seemed to make much more sense because of the pain. I mean it just sounded painful. He put in the summary of my visit "ovarian cyst vs hydrosalpinx" and told me to come back in 6 wks to take a look at it to see if it shrinks and make a further diagnosis. I've been doing research and is starting to make me nervous. It seems to be something that makes you lose your tube because if the damage it does. The really crazy part about this is, this past pregnancy I had, the egg actually came from my bad side (confirmed by my doctor)!

My question to y'all is this. Which would you consider worse: an ovarian cyst or a hydrosalpinx? Why? Thanks everyone.
