Am I a bad mother?

Question

I love my child to pieces but I absolutely hate breastfeeding. I have to use the pump and it is so painful and inconvenient. I can hardly ever do it as much as I need to because most of the time I'm too busy with the baby to be able to pump. So long story short my boobs get sore until I'm at the point of tears and I get very upset because I can barely pump enough for a feeding after pumping three times. He usually gets breast milk once a day. My child is two weeks old and I'm considering stopping the breast milk. Am I a bad mother for considering this?

Absolutely not. There's always been a huge stigma associated with women who choose not to, or are unable to breastfeed. We as women are so critical of ourselves we forget to look at all the amazing things we are doing. You brought this wonderful baby into this world and you love them. You give them your time and the fact that you're even weighing this option so heavily on your heart shows you're an AMAZING MOM. You are loved by that child and there are lots of ways to feed a baby besides breastmilk. You just need to find what works for you and find other women in that group and support each other. You're so amazing, please don't forget that.💚💚💚

No. You are a GREAT mother for loving your baby and ensuring he is fed. Period. Doesn't matter if it's breast milk or formula, as long as you are both happy and healthy. If formula allows you to be less stressed and pain-free, that makes you better able to be a happier mom, and that's what's important. F'ed and happy. ❤️

I think a bad mother would be one that doesn't care if she's breastfeeding her child or not, and doesn't care and love her baby like you do. Everyone is different and breastfeeding isn't for anyone. It's easy for some and hard for others. As long as you do what you think is best for your baby and love and care for him/her, you are being a good mother ❤️

You aren't a bad mother. I would look into potentially seeking out a lactation consultant if you haven't. Breast feeding is definitely painful at times but it shouldn't be that bad. Maybe babe doesn't have a good latch etc they always say that if you can make it to the 6 week mark then you are golden. We used a nipple shield which helped a ton for myself.

At the end of the day if you choose to bottle or formula feed there is nothing wrong with that!  You have it a go and that is what matters. As long as baby is fed then you are golden. Don't listen to the potential sancti mommies that may comment and say that breast is best blah blah

Nope! I was doing the same thing with pumping! I lasted a month and now my baby is strictly formula, she's happier, I'm happier, husbands happier. All that matters is that she's fed! Your mental health is important to, never forget to take care of yourself and die what's best for your baby and YOU!

❤you're not a bad mother. No one told me breastfeeding would be this hard and I'm three weeks in still hurting when he latches. It's ok to give up if you feel that it's not working. You have tried and it's ok. Just don't give up forever. If you have another later on give it a try. It didn't work with my first but this one we are doing painfully well lol.

Your child is still getting fed! You are not a bad mother. Anyone who dares to judge a mother for not being able to breast feed or not wanting to is not the kind of person to associate with. We all have these beliefs that breast is best shoved down our throats, and sometimes it just dosent work. Do what's best for you and your baby! You are the mom and if breast feeding is causing you this much emotion distress it's not what's best.

I breastfed for 10 weeks and now I breastfeed 3x a day and formula the rest. You are not a bad mom. If you're happy you will be a better mom bc of it. I am so much happier now that I supplement. I'm sure whatever you choose will be the best decision for you and baby but don't be afraid of formula. I'm so thankful  for it!
