Do you lose weight by breast feeding?

I once read somewhere that you can lose as much as 500 calories an hr breast feeding? Is this true? And do your boobs get smaller if you breastfeed?

I breastfeed both my boys and yes the weight just dropped off me, within 5 months I was smaller than I was before I fell pregnant! It helps contract the stomach muscles. But it will make you hungry and thirsty while breastfeeding, I had to have a bowl of fruit and some biscuits and water next to me and literally eat them while feeding as my tummy would start to gurgle! It's 500 calories a day when exclusively breast feeding.

Not everyone does. Many Friends couldn't loose the last 10lbs till they stopped then once baby weane the lost it easily. I went on meds to increase milk and gained 10lbs

I did not loose weight from breastfeeding. I actually gained some weight. Wasnt until almost 2 years later that I lost my baby weight!!

I never lost weight from breast feeding until I started cutting calories and exercising. Than I lost 60 lb in 6 months. My little guy was still chunky and happy but i did notice a drop in weight gain.

Every body is different. I gained 29lbs with my first child, and lost 32lbs in 3 wks. And my breast milk never came in.

You can but not all people do. My boobs are bigger from breastfeeding lol. It's not breastfeeding that changes your boobs it's pregnancy.

It burns an extra 500cals per day and your breasts change after pregnancy whether you use them to feed your baby or not. There are tons and tons of benefits to breastfeeding so I'd suggest you look into them and be prepared by the time your baby comes!
