Do you recycle?

Question

I started to when we moved into our apartment but our apartment building only takes the trash and not recycling, so it's starting to become a pain. I feel bad not recycling because I grew up doing it. Is it really that big of a deal?

Yes. It took almost 2 years to get my SO to start. He kept claiming the city goes through the bins and removes recyclables.

Yeah and I'm the queen.

They've actually done studies where recycling doesn't help as much as we think it does and in some cases may harm because of the pollution, methods of collection etc but I still do it

I don't recycle right now and I feel bad about it. They have so many rules here. I used to recycle. But here say you want to recycle a can, they expect that you remove the paper and then use glue gone or something to get the glue off the can. And things like diapers aren't recycled here either. 
I do put cardboard out for them to take.
Everything else is trashed

Yeah we do. We have to pay extra to do it too. Stupid IMO. Recycling should not cost extra.

Yes, always. I don't know how it works other places but here I just toss all my containers into one bin and all my paper into another and the city picks it up. Easy peasy.

We do seperate our trash and recylcle but we don't have a recycling unit where we live. They basically just charge us for two trash cans when we barely use one
