Tubes tied?

I need some help. I'm getting my tubes tied and curious about the actual procedure. How long does it take? Do they put you completely under? I'll be roughly 6 weeks postpartum and exclusively breastfeeding, I have no desire to give her a bottle that early but I will if I have to.
Can someone give me some input please!

I had my tubes tied the day after I delivered my son. They completely put me under and I slept the rest of the evening. The next morning I woke up and was sore but had pain medicine to go home with. I was still able to nurse. Make sure getting your tubes tied is a decision you want to make. It has side effects that aren't very pleasant. I had mine reversed 10 years after I had them tied.

It's done laprascopically. You are completely knocked out for it under a general anaesthetic. Recovery time afterwards is usually like 4-7 days or so before you go back to work depending on what you do for a living. The anaesthetists will often tell you that after the procedure you just express the first 15mls or so before feeding your baby and the most it will do to the baby is just make them sleepy (or if you know the date in advance just express enough for a couple of feeds for afterwards so you can have a chance to rest afterwards). It's a little painful for a the first few days especially but they should give you some meds for that. Also what people don't expect is it's quite common to get shoulder tip pain afterwards (because of the gas they pump into your abdomen to do the procedure- but this is easily absorbed into the body within 24-48hr so it's nothing to worry about).
