How to know when my water breaks?

Question

I've heard that not every woman's water actually breaks. But if it does, is it just a trickle or a gush? I guess all I'm asking is if it is noticeable aside from normal discharge. 
Also, can it break while you are peeing? If it does, how could you know? Ftm, obviously.

I felt a gush lol & I knew it wasn't pee. It wouldn't stop. Literally like the movies lol

My water broke while I was sleeping but it woke me up. It gushed, I stood up and it just kept gushing with what I can only guess were contractions but I didn't feel it. I put a thick washcloth in my underwear and by the time they got me into triage it was completely soaked through my pants 😂 it felt like I was full on peeing myself every 3 minutes.

With mine, it happened in the hospital waiting room. I was 9 1/2 cm dilated. It was just a gush, about a couple table spoons full. I'm still confused if it was ACTUALLY my water, though. It was thick and full of blood. I had already lost my entire mucus plug the day before.

I knew the second my water broke, it was a "pop" feeling and a little bit of water/blood leaking. But definitely the pop, I doubt you'd miss it if you got the pop sensation.
