Breast cancer affects 1 out of 8 women, and many of our lives have been touched by this disease. It's the second-leading cancer that kills women in the US every year, but thanks to screening, many cases can be caught early and treated. While there are different risk factors involved and no sure way to prevent breast cancer, here are some things women can do that might reduce their risk, or if cancer does occur, helps the chances of it being found at an early, more treatable stage.

1. Maintain a healthy weight

2. Get regular exercise

3. Avoid or limit alcohol consumption

4. Eat a balanced diet, rich in vegetables, fruit, poultry, fish, and low-fat dairy
