Abscess
Turns out I have an abscess/ hematoma right next to my areola on my right breast. My OB sent me directly to the ER yesterday to see a surgeon, get an ultrasound and blood work done. Surgeon sent me home on antibiotics and said to follow up Tuesday. Last resort for him was to drain the abscess. Apparently it's from trauma from pumping/ breast feeding. It is truly the most painful experience- and now after putting warm compresses on it is draining a lot of pus.
Problem is- this is causing me unable to pump on right side (breast feeding on that side is out of the picture since there is an infection there, he can't have my milk) Needless to say I am giving up all together- and going to formula. I've spent every day the past two weeks just crying in pain and discomfort, now I have this serious infection.
Any pointers on weaning off the pumping? Or how to dry myself out. I can't pump on right so I'm going to try to hand express some milk if needed, but at least all the pus is coming out.
I desperately need some pointers. Or has any one experienced this?? 😔
