Ttc questions

When is the best time in the day to take an opk? Brand name or generic? Do you have to have a period to ovulate? Is there any meaning behind odors?

I've been not trying to prevent it but not exactly trying to conceive either (if that makes any sense) for most of the past 3 years with no luck. I'm getting pretty serious on the TRYING part now.. any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Side note: I am 23 years old and 220lbs possibly pcos(not yet diagnosed). I have never had a regular cycle even when on birth control. At most I have 5-8 periods a year. I have a high testosterone level too. My last cycle was from oct 28-nov13 glow said my ovulation days were the 14-19 my love and I bd several times in that window.
