How to encourage let down when hand expressing?

Question

FTM and trying hand expressing for the first time . I noticed that my milk is coming out as a few drops with the occasional spray which I read is associated with let down reflex. How do I get more of the spray instead of just drops?

Try pressing a hot, damp washcloth right to your nipple before you express.  I had issues too at first and this was a tip from my lactation consultant.  Tricks the boob into thinking it's baby. Works for me every time!

I think the trick is to act like the pump does. Squeeze faster at first to encourage the letdown, and then once you letdown do slower, longer squeezes. That helped me anyways.
