Polycystic ovarian syndrome
I'm nearly 26. My husband and I have been married for 5 years, and have been getting to the point where we are going to start trying for a baby.
Recently I was diagnosed with PCOS. My obgyn basically disgnosed me and thrust a pamphlet at me telling me this is what I have and there isn't anything that be done besides staying on my birth control pills. This was a bit derailing as I am young and lead a healthy and active lifestyle. My husband and i are both only children, and were planning on having just one child. After which, he would get a vasectomy and I would stop taking birth control (an eventuality I am really Looking forward to as I have been on bc since I was 17, and I am sick of putting synthetic hormones in my body).
I have seen a naturopathic dr. He seems a bit more optimistic about staying ahead of the symptoms and increasing my natural estrogen production. So far, the only symptoms I have really suffered are cysts, but of course I have no idea what my normal cycle is like since I have been on bc so long.
I am curious what other women diagnosed with PCOS have experienced? Is there anything that you have done to relieve or prevent symptoms? Any insight would be appreciated. This has been kind of a whirlwind that has derailed the path i thought my life would take.
