Cry it out?!

Question

So my daughter just turned 2 weeks old and every time she falls asleep after breastfeeding I go to lay her in the bassinet she only last 10min than begins to cry but as soon as my husband or I pick her up an lay her on our chest she stops crying an can sleep again for a 2hr or more stretch. What should we do? My husband thinks we should let her cry it out but I feel she may be too young for that. FTM so any advice helpful :)

Your newborn needs you. They need you so they can know that when they're crying for whatever reason, that someone is going to be there. I don't believe in them "crying it out". Your baby only cries when something is wrong, whether they are hungry, gassy, or need their diaper changed, and they need someone there to make it better. You have the rest of their lives when they are older to let them soothe themselves....not at two weeks old.

I feel it's too young until about 4 months at the earliest. At 2 weeks, she has barely learned any trust so letting her cry just means she learns that you won't come when she needs you.  She's comforted by you and that's just how babies are at this stage. It's scary lying alone in a bed at any time, especially brand new babies! Allow her to fall asleep in your arms and lie her down in bed when she is fully asleep (stops making noises and twitching and is "out like a light")

She's definitely too young to CIO. As everyone has said, she's brand new and all she knows is you. She need that comfort from you. It's a scary new world for her! My son is almost 4 months and I still don't let him cry much. Breaks my heart. You do it when your ready. I personally don't believe in the CIO method but it's your choice when she's older.

She's not used to being out of the womb yet. She just wants warmth & comfort from you. According to doctors, babies won't form habits till they're about 3 months (I don't believe that) My LO did the same and I just ended up cosleeping for the first month & a half but I would still try to set her down every night in her bassinet. One night she just miraculously stayed asleep in her bassinet and then the next night she stayed in her crib. Maybe try to keep her awake during the feeding and set her down when she's still awake. I feed my LO and make sure her diaper is dry and she'll fall asleep on her own in her crib if I have all the lights off. I'll hear her "talk" for a little and then she'll doze off.

She is too young for CIO. My LO was the same way at the beginning, they do outgrow that though! Mine is now almost 4 months and sleeps fine on his back, but I still haven't done CIO, it breaks my heart!

She is too young. Babies that young don't know how to self soothe. So if you leave her crying she can't calm herself down, she will just become more and more stressed. Right now even though it's hard she needs cuddles.

I had talked with my doc about this very thing. She said my baby is most likly crying bc of gas...theres more pressure when laying down on the back. She suggested to prop up his bed so its tilted on one end to releave some pressure. It did work a few times when he was extremely  sleepy. But I think for him the bed is to open. He likes to be in his boppy pillow which surrounds him on both sides and he likes to be snuggled...

The crying it out method only comes into play after 3 months of age if that's what you decide to do. Before 3 months no bad habits can be formed, and the sooner your baby's needs are tended to, the more dependent and self soothing child she'll be later on. Right now is the time for them to know that you're there. At 2 weeks they're not crying "just because". They cry because they're hungry, their diaper is wet/soiled or they need some cuddle time from mom or dad.

My daughter is literally the same. I'd noticed she just likes being held sadly so I had an idea and just laid her in the nursery pillow I have and she sleeps there like no other lol. I gues the U shape is like I'm holding her
