Baby only wants to eat at night? Or...

Question

I was wondering when your baby wakes at night do you automatically assume he's hungry and just feed him? Or do you try to see if he just wants something else like to be cuddled or something? I'm talking about infants like under 3 months. My 6 week old obviously wakes at night and I just feed him...but do babies that age wake for anything else possibly? Or they only wake up to eat?

My 3 week old son wakes up several times during the night and it's always to be fed. I always give him a bath before bed. So I change his diaper around 3 and 5 whenever he wakes up, and then again around 9 and 11 when he wakes up.

He jus got circumsized today so I plan on changing his diaper more frequently.

I do change my daughters diaper at night before feeding her but she really only wakes to eat and then goes right back to sleep. I think it depends on how long it has been since the baby has eaten or how much he/she has eaten that day. Use your judgement on if he/she is hungry. My daughter refuses to eat unless she is hungry so that makes it easy for me to know.

Baby is just hungry.  My daughter is 12 weeks on tuesday and she just wakes up to eat. Then foes back to sleep within 15/20 minutes.

I do not play, give eye contact or change  her diaper at night because she will want to stay up longer.

Mine is 8 weeks and I feed her each time she wakes at night. She normally just wakes up at 2am and 5am and it is definitely for food!

When she was younger I offered every time she woke up. We are breast feeding and she would want it for comfort if not for food.

At night I avoid doing anything interesting with her - just feed, change hold and go back to sleep.
