Vaginal vs C Section (TMI?)

So I'm a planner. I know I'm not preg yet but I like to knowledgable and plan like I am already it's my way of staying positive.
Gunce was kind enough to put an amazing video up done by PBS explaining this whole pregnancy thing from before egg meets Sperm right through birth. ( I highly recommend watching it. Even though the non science stuff is way cheesy) At the end it shows a vaginal birth. That made me decide to check out a C section video.
Until now I had always thought I'd rather have the C section seemed less risky with my chronic pain and less over all painful but after watching 7 rows of stitches being put in that woman I want to try vaginal at all cost just make sure they dope me up. I think that vid terrified me of just how hard recovery would be after C vs after Vag
What are your thoughts? Would you rather caginal or c section? If you had a chd already what was your experience like with recovery for either?
