Breast milk giving baby diarrhea
Long story .
I'm a type 1 diabetic so my baby was huge at birth. He was born at 37 weeks weighing 11.9 pounds ! And of course he had to stay in the NICU for about a week because his blood sugar would go low . He was making too much insulin. During his stay in the NICU I would take him my breast milk so the nurses could feed him that instead of formula but since I wasn't producing as much, they have him formula . Some stupid nurse left him pooped for about 30 minutes and he developed a diaper rash so bad that they would lay him on his belly and leave his diaper open to air it out !! Well the pediatrician changed his feeding regimen to one feeding formula one feeding breast milk. He was put on the similac sensitive formula to help with the diarrhea. So we bring him home and continue this regimen and he starts to poop a bit more solid and we notice that he's getting a lot of colic . He wouldn't burp but would fart pretty loud and hard. So we changed it to just breastfeeding. Well that didn't go too good either . He got really bad diarrhea and really bad stomach bubbles . Similar to the type we grownups get when we have diarrhea. He cries and cries till he poops. I called the dr and he suggested to change the formula from similac sensitive to similac alimentum.
My question is , could my baby be lactose ? Why is my breast milk hurting his belly ? I feel I've let him down by me not being able to produce good milk for him😞
