Castor oil ?

I'm 36 weeks if I don't have my baby by 38 weeks should I take castor oil ? A lot of ppl have recommended it to me because my baby is already big & if she gets bigger I won't be able to have her natural. I'm scared too cause my family doesn't have natural babies they all have c sections and I want to have her natural.

No. Castor oil makes you shit, not go into labour. For those who say it worked for them, no, it's a coincidence. What you consume your baby does too. Do you want that all in your baby's undeveloped digestive system? If the baby passes a bowel movement he can ingest it which can be very, very bad. Why risk it? How do you know your baby is big? Late pregnancy scans are notoriously inaccurate. Often the baby is much smaller or larger than they estimate. Besides, larger babies aren't necessarily more difficult to birth. You may have no problem at all. A woman in the same time as me was predicted a 9-10lb baby for a number of reasons and he was only 6lb 9oz. Trying to bring the baby early when he isn't ready is not a good idea. Baby will come when he is ready for the outside world.

I'm a midwife and women tell me all the time that their family talks about how big they are...are they trained medical professionals? Well then they actually don't know what they are talking about! I've seen many many small ladies have big babies with no problems at all!! And I've seen many people who everyone says oh you are so big, and their baby came out a completely average size. 
I was a whale when my son was due and then when my waters broke at home I had so much water come out of me gushing it was ridiculous, don't forget it's not just baby in there, all the water, the placenta etc my son was 7 pound 3, so I was huge, and had a lot of people tell me how huge he was, but he wasn't big at all! But yeah definitely don't do caster oil, to help myself get into labour (although research shows we still don't actually know what actually starts a labour, and you could try everything but if your body is not ready, you won't go into labour) I cleaned my house for 6 hours straight! I got down on my hands and knees and scrubbed! I went to bed early, my waters broke at 1am, I rang my midwife and let her know and then went back to sleep, the next day I went for a big walk to help my contractions get started.

This is how big I was the week before I went into labour with my first! I'm only just 5 foot tall! Believe in your body and believe in yourself. Don't listen to everyone unless they are medically trained and are able to do a full assessment of vaginal opening, pelvic bones, palpation of baby!

I've heard horror stories of castor oil just because it makes baby poop inside and then baby will breathe it in and there's a big chance that your baby might not make it back from that. I actually ready that story from a woman on this app. If I were to give induction advice I would try nipple stimulation and sex. Lots of both :) lol hope this helps.

My baby who is now 1 when I had her 39 weeks she was 10 pounds and I had her 100% natural no drugs and delivered her by vag... So it is possible to have a big baby and have it by vag..... I know everybody is different but it is natural.

No. Let your baby come when ready! The longer the better unless medical complications. My baby HAD to come early, trust me, keep them in as long as you can.

Babies have unnecessarily died because of using castor oil to get them out. To me it's not worth it. Ask your dr./midwife what they recommend

From experience I took a table spoon of castor oil mixed with a glass of orange juice my first pregnancy because I was 40 weeks and he was content where he was at... It didn't work at all and didn't make the process any faster so I drank a horrible tasting drink for no reason. Lol Baby came when he wanted and I still had to have an enema at the hospital to loosen some stools up. Just hang in there she will come out when she is ready! Good luck  😊

There is an herbal tea that you can take that will naturally induce you. I won't post the name of it on here bc I don't want someone to take it too early and cause harm to the baby.

It has a sister that will keep the contractions going.

You can also look at NaturesSunshine's 5w. It might be your safest bet.

Go find a certified herbalist and talk to them. There are natural options but do NOT use castor oil. The risks are too high.
