breastfeeding really difficult?" /> I'm planning on breastfeeding my son but i am worried that it won't work out for us. What if he doesn't latch, who will help me to breastfeed if it doesn't work out. I'm just so worried! Is breastfeeding really that difficult?😫

Breastfeeding is a new and very different thing than you've ever done. There are times when it can get difficult.

When you get to the hospital lay the nurse know you want to meet with the Lactation Consultant once baby is born. They will help with all of your questions, latching, positions, etc. Ask if they have office hours and make an appointment to meet with them a few days after you get home. This is when you will have more questions. Ask about breastfeeding support groups in the area. Find an online group.

The first two weeks to about a month are the hardest. After that it's easier. That doesn't mean it won't be with out some hiccups, but you'll have resources at this point to help you along the way.

Also, don't beat yourself up if it just doesn't work. It's ok! You have options. You don't want to stress yourself or baby out. It will all be ok.

I've had trouble but they have a nurse/consultant who is there just to help with that. It can be hard but if you're diligent you will be successful.

It's definitely hard at first, and it takes a lot of patience, determination and energy to keep up with it, but for me, it's worth it. I have to remind myself not to stress over my milk production while pumping at work, and to stay hydrated and eat when I'm hungry. You can always look for a lactation consultant for help.

I'm a little over 2 weeks pp. I have to say breastfeeding had been awful for me. It hurts so much and the first couple days my baby gave me hickeys!  I cried and dreaded every feeding. I bought a pump so I could alternate and it is working for us. It is finally starting to be more comfortable  to feed him. Funny how people tell you breastfeeding is hard but never explain what it's like. Wish someone had told me. I am happy I'm doing it for my baby. But it really does take some getting used too. Good luck to you. You'll be just fine!  Just keep doing it even when you want to give up!

I understand your concern, breastfeeding is not easy, but its worth it for both mama and baby. I dont think you have the right attitude about it though. Trust your body. Women have been doing this since the beginning of time. It is exhausting, painful, and can be frustrating. You can do it! And many issues that come up can be resolved with some help. There is help out there, you will not be alone. Good luck!

Every mom and baby is different! It is easy to start for some and hard for others. It should NOT hurt! I had a tough start. My baby was latching bad because I wasn't positioning him correctly. My nipples bled and scabbed. I had to use a nipple shield until I healed and got help from a lactation consultant to work with his latch. Now we are 8 weeks in and I am SO glad I stuck to it. There were many nights when baby and I were BOTH crying 😭 but it gets better! If you are in the hospital, they should have a lactation consultant available! Ask about it before you give birth. Also, my best friend had breastfeeding easy from the beginning. Everyone is different!

It can be. Yes h baby/momma is different. Take breastfeeding classes if your hospital offers them and work with lacation consultant.

I've spoken to quite a few moms about breastfeeding and from their experiences I think it is difficult for some and for others it's a breeze. One mom I know gave up quite quickly with her first but has made it to a year with her second without any problems - the difference was that with the second baby she had really good support and advice from a lactation counsellor.  She said the session with the counsellor was invaluable and really helped her to find the right positions etc which made bf much easier.

No its not if babys latched on and its sore then break suction with a clean pinky and reattache if you stick by this rule you cant go wrong , im a mother of 2 and have 1 on way and yes will breastfeed 3rd child as i did with other 2 , breastmilk and lanolin are good for cracked nipples which i only had with baby 2 for a short period , im so looking forward to bonding with yet another beautiful baby via breastfeeding its the best connection and bonding experience ever not to mention all health benefits for mother and baby , muslin squares are the best coverups for me as they can be tucked into bra straps and tops ect and are easy to breathe through ect , hope this helps 😊

There are many difficulties but worth trying. Just be patient the first 2 moths are the worst. Seek lactation consultants in your region, take some classes and explore LLL meetings. Always have someone's phone that is certificates for this reason. Be calm and enjoy
