I'm not trying to offend anyone this is a serious question. Do you think that media is a big reason we still have race issues? To me I feel like racism is big because he media pushes it so hard... I could be naive but I've been around the US and people are always very respectful to each other and racism is very minimal if even at all between people on the streets but then you turn on the news and is all about race.

Racism is everywhere. Not to offend anyone in anyway but most Caucasians don't see it happening because they aren't the ones being stereotyped or discriminated against. But our race (blacks) is messed up. We have been oppressed so long that we don't know anything else. Statistically, our race doesn't work together for long periods of time. Someone always "owes" us something. We as a people and as a nation need to come together and stop the nonsense. Justice is justice and color shouldn't matter but it does no matter what people say.

The media only exacerbated existing issues, but conditioning can come from many sources, especially family upbringing. Racism has been woven into the fabric of this country since the settlers massacred Native Americans.

No, we still have racism because this SOCIETY is racist and many of those who benefit or at least aren't harmed by it would rather assuage their egos than be part of the solution.

And before you argue a racist experience at the hands of a person of color (not that I condone that), I'm talking about systemic racism only in this case.

It just depends on your life. My hubby(who is white) knew that racism was out there but until he met me (I'm American Indian and African American) he really didn't she what I grew up with and what my brothers went through. Now the media brings things into your life that you may not see otherwise but that's not always a bad thing. Now I've live in the north no but no matter the location I've been called a Nigg** all my life by white people. My first fight was in 1st grade. I had lost my birth father and a white boy said "oh I hear your dad died why are you said he just a nigg**". So yes it here and alive in the world. Now I know for some whites people it may make you feel uncomfortable to talk about or see it but please understand its out their and it's a true issue in the world today.
