Every day or every other day?

I'm sure this Q has been asked before but I'm new to boards and only on 3rd cycle of ttc baby numbero uno! So are most of you going at it every day or every other during fertility window? My husband is a 4th yr med student so we're pretty informed about the science behind most aspects of ttc and he had been taught in his OBGYN rotation that every day is okay. But when I had a well woman visit recently the one thing my doc INSISTED on was that we try only every other day, for Sperm quality reasons. So we kinda did both this month and did every other day for the first few days and then when I had a surge on a dollar store kit we did three days in a row. Doesn't seem like there's any conclusive evidence out there so I just wondered why everyone else had decided to do!
