How far away was your hospital?

We are leaning towards a birthing hospital that's about 50 minutes from home. I work in this area and it's much easier for me to make it to my regular Dr. appointments, but I'm concerned about the drive for when it's go time! I'm also due January 1 (with my first) so there could be bad roads, and I really don't know what to expect labor-wise.

Is the hospital too far away? Were you in a panicked rush to get to hospital when you were in labor? Looking for input... Thx!

For a first baby, that's probably ok. My hospital was about 35 minutes away with my second. But I went into labor at midnight and my husband (at the time) drove like speed racer. We made it in 20 lol. Just be careful and listen to your body. If you feel like you won't have time, go to a closer hospital if possible.

If that's wher you feel comfortable at 50 min isn't awful. Especially if you end up going while at work you are close.

Mine is 40 minutes away with no traffic at all, it's can be awful with traffic. Praying for a midnight labor. 😂

My hospital is an hour away from my house, but 15 minutes from my work. Hopefully I will go into labor at work and not at home lol. The hospital we chose is one of the best in Nashville,TN so we are pretty happy with our decesion to go there.

We have one where I live but if things are good we will be traveling 1.5 hrs away. My first took 23.5 hrs to come so Im hoping this one gives me time. :) You should be good if its your first.

We live less than a mile from our hospital but I work about 1.5hr away (city traffic blah).  There's a hospital right across from my office.  Hoping I won't have to use it as back up!

Mine is 45 minutes with good traffic, can be a lot longer with bad traffic. My due date's in two weeks so let's hope it goes well

I go to a Lovelace hospital that is 30min away because I found a Dr that I liked there. but if I really need to and it comes down to it, there is a Lovelace Woman's hospital that is prob 5-10min away from me depending on stoplights ha. If I def feel like I'm having complications I'll be going to the Woman's since they have a NICU.
