Is this copper IUD trying to kill me?!

Ok y'all. I switched from Mirena to Paragard on February 15. I had some, ok a lot, of bleeding and spotting after the procedure until the first week of May. So like 2 1/2 months. Well it finally stopped (thank goodness!) I thought that maybe it'd just be a normal flow after that. Well June 1 I started my flow. OMG its heavy and painful, and still here. I'm on day 16 of my cycle with medium to heavy bleeding (enough to saturate a regular pad in 3-4 hours). I want to cry! I'm so tempted to make an appointment to have it taken out!!! 
 Now, with Mirena I had no period at all for like 4 1/2 years. I'm just curious if anyone has had a similar experience or has any advice.

My periods after I got Paragard inserted looked like a crime scene. It was incredibly embarrassing because I would be somewhere public and all of a sudden I'd bleed all over myself. I was having to change tampons every couple of hours, and yes, it was a disaster and I hated every second of it, but since that was the only side effect I was experience and I know that heavy bleeding is common, I decided to stick with it.

I think the flow started decreasing after about a year and now I have two days of a heavy period (not crime scene heavy, but heavier than they used to be pre-IUD) and the rest are normal to light.

Follow your doctors advice about calling if you continue bleeding, and in the mean time I would suggest taking iron supplements to prevent anemia.

That's strange!!! I have ParaGuard and I love it. I spotted for a while like you (about 5 weeks) after I got it put in but after that, everything was smooth sailings. My periods are heavy and crampy but I knew what I was getting into when I signed up. I really like my IUD.
