Weight and length

I'm currently 27w and my doctors has yet to tell me how long my baby is inches wide and how much he weighs! Is this normal ? My other friend is 29w and her son is already 3lbs and 17", she's looking at a possible c section. I'm just frustrated I asked at his 20w appt how long he was and the nurse goes " about the size of a banana.. Plus legs." Wtf. I can read this app and know that ! Anyone else not in this boat w me ?
