Actually I'd like to say a few months. You don't want to make your new date an 'escape' or an 'attempt' to move on from your last relationship. That will end badly. However, if you're completely comfortable, or that person is able to convince you that he's not playing around, you may try and go with them. There's someone I know who broke up with her boyfriend, and then got in a relationship two days after, now they're married and have a toddler now. So... Yeah, I think it depends.
