Worst pain ever

So does anyone else have really bad cramps to the point they cry??? Because majority of the girls I talk to brag about how light and wonderful their period is and I'm over here wanting to die because of the amount of pain I'm in. I legit cried for a good 20 min straight cause of the cramps and my poor boyfriend was clueless as to what to do or how to help so he just massaged my back and held me. Just wanted to know if it happens to anybody else
