Sleep in Swing??

Question

My 11week has a hard time getting to sleep sometimes for naps and the swing works well but I'm afraid he will become dependent on the swinging motion. Anyone have experience with this?? Do they just wean themselves off from needing motion?

My daughter naps in her swing but sleeps in her bassinet at night. Since she sleeps well without rocking at night I'm not too worried about it. Eventually she'll be too big for her swing and she won't be able to sleep in it anymore and in the long run of her life I doubt it's going to pose any problems. Just do what works for your baby so they can sleep!!

They'll be fine. Remember babies don't really know how to self soothe until beginning at month three. After that, they should need less, and eventually none, of the rocking, bouncing, swaddling etc we have to do to get these little ones to sleep!! I'm on my third, and she naps in the swing sometimes during the day, but in a rock n play at night. Did the same with my older two and had no problems transitioning to the crib later on. I say use whatever tools you can to get more sleep or stuff done around the house while you can!

My son slept in his swing until two months. Now he sleeps in a rock n play because our swing broke. Sometimes he hated it swinging but other times he doesn't. My daughter sleeps in her swing during the day also but at night she sleeps 7-8 hours in the pack n play. She is going to have a rude awakening come next week when I go back to work and the places she will be staying doesn't have swings! I might sound crazy but I think it's because I worked up until 39 weeks and was constantly moving throughout the day so I really think she just got used to it. But to answer your questions I don't think it hurts them one bit. My son was the same way and he eventually grew out of his swing and slept great in his crib!
